KKE: Interview with the Greek Communist Party

Thursday, May 13, 2010

Wikinews reporter Iain Macdonald has performed an interview with Dr Isabella Margara, a London-based member of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE). In the interview Margara sets out the communist response to current events in Greece as well as discussing the viability of a communist economy for the nation. She also hit back at Petros Tzomakas, a member of another Greek far-left party which criticised KKE in a previous interview.

The interview comes amid tensions in cash-strapped Greece, where the government is introducing controversial austerity measures to try to ease the nation’s debt-problem. An international rescue package has been prepared by European Union member states and the International Monetary Fund – should Greece require a bailout; protests have been held against government attempts to manage the economic situation.

Using Body Language Subliminal To Control Your Non Verbal Communication Skills

Using Body Language Subliminal to Control Your Non-Verbal Communication Skills

by

Nelson Berry

Do you think you consciously hold the key to all your thoughts, expressions, mannerisms, and habits? The conscious mind is not that powerful. It is the subconscious that actually controls all these.

Controlling Your Body Language Do you find yourself unable to overcome bad habits or negative mannerisms? Do you find yourself spitting out expressions you don’t consciously mean to say? Do you find yourself revealing more than you should through your body movements? If so, that means your subconscious is betraying you because you are clearly not in control of it. But do you know that there is a way for you to control your subconscious? This way, you can maintain consistency in all your thoughts, actions, habits, mannerisms, expressions, and behavior. You can control your words and body movements. You can send the right messages through both verbal language and body language in a consistent manner. So how can you control your subconscious to control all communication points in your system, including your body language? All you need are subliminal messages. These are messages that pass right under the nose of your conscious mind to go straight to the subconscious. This means the conscious mind don’t get the chance to filter them or to block them. Once absorbed by the subconscious, these messages can change the way you think, which also changes the way you act, move, and behave. Just as you can quit smoking by sending a subliminal message to your subconscious that you are free from the smoking habit because it is not healthy for you, you can also put a stop to uncontrolled expressions and body language that give you away. This way, you can have full control over yourself. How to Deliver Subliminal Messages So how exactly can you embed subliminal messages into your subconscious mind? These messages get absorbed the easiest when the conscious mind is relaxed. Thus, you can try techniques that first put the conscious mind in a relaxed state such as: — Hypnotherapy — Meditation However, if you are short on time and want to do this the easier way, you can invest in affordable but powerful subliminal products, such as subliminal videos and MP3 files, which can easily be downloaded online. Just by watching the videos or listening to the audio files, your mind will become filled with the positive subliminal messages you want to deliver. It’s that effortless. Each video or audio file takes just a few minutes of your time. It’s so easy you can even do it on your lunch time or before bed. Reading Other People’s Body Language – Insights from the Subliminal Mind The concept of the subliminal mind can also help you read through other people’s real body language. Now that you know about the limitations of the conscious mind, you also know that there are some aspects in other people’s personalities that they themselves cannot control. This includes body language and mannerisms, which betray their real thoughts or intentions. Knowing this, you can now pay close attention to these uncontrolled areas of a person’s behavior to get clues about the other person’s motives, thoughts, and beliefs. Nelson Berry

A compilation of brief news reports for Monday, May 7, 2007.

A 30 meter section of a gas pipeline in Luka (near Kiev) in Ukraine has been destroyed by an explosion. Although supplies to Europe via this pipeline have stopped, Ukrainian Energy Minister Georgi E. Boyko said that supplies to Europe would not be affected.

“There are no changes in volumes of gas being transported,” Yuri Korolchuk said. “Volumes due to pass through the damaged section are being redirected through the Soyuz pipeline.”

Normal flows are reported in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Romania.

Copper prices are rising. Between record copper imports from China, and a mining strike in Peru, the prices have climbed to over $8100 (United States dollars) a tonne, for a gain of $575 dollars over the last week. However the upward trend is not new, it has been climbing for quite some time. In April 2003, the price of copper was under $2000 a tonne.

The metal market has been tending up due to growth in the Chinese industrial production. This trickles down to the local level, where the buying price at scrap yards is ever climbing, making scrap metal collection a more profitable endeavour for individual people using pick up trucks or other such vehicles to collect and cash in the scrap metal at metal buying yards. It can be collected via agreements with businesses, from the garbage, or, sometimes, by theft.

Copper prices fell today on the NYMEX commodity exchange from US$3.7545 per pound to US$3.7125 based on the July futures contract.

Different Types Of Plumbing Repair

byAlma Abell

A complete plumbing installation consists of three major components and any of these three can malfunction and plumbing repair in Cumming, GA will be necessary. A plumbing system consists of the water pipes, the drains and sewers and fixtures, any one of these can fail. Leaks can appear anywhere in the pipes for a number of reasons, it is easy for a drain to become clogged or a sewer to back up and mechanical malfunctions can happen when valves do not operate properly and water regulation is disrupted. Any of these plumbing problems can lead to property damage or pose a risk to health.

The supply side of a plumbing system is that which carries water under pressure, it is connected to the municipal supply. The drain side removes water once it has been used along with waste. The supply side consists of non-toxic pipes that are rated for pressure; the pipes are joined using compression joints, solder or solvent welding. The drain side of the system is not under pressure and the pipes are much larger as they carry waste to the sewer system.

Leaks can happen anywhere in the supply side, the leaks can be the result of a poor joint, perhaps a frozen pipe or when the piping has deteriorated. When there is a leak, regardless of the cause water under pressure escapes and can cause a great deal of damage in a very short time. When there is a leak in the pressure side of the system then plumbing repair must take place quickly.

It is no less important to fix any problems in the drain side. Although pressurized water is not escaping there is the possibility of waste products which pool into toxic puddles. Leaks in these drain pipes are often more difficult to repair because the pipes run under the house and garden before entering the sewage system. It is a homeowner’s responsibility to maintain the drains as far as the sewer and the supply side from the water meter throughout the home plumbing system.

Plumbing hardware can malfunction as well and need repairing. There are a number of fixtures in a typical system; toilets, sinks, showers, bathtubs, outdoor irrigation systems, etc. Any of these fixtures can fail and can cause system wide problems especially if the problem is caused by a leak. The common problems that require plumbing repair in Cumming, GA are leaking faucets and malfunctioning toilets, some of which can be fixed by the homeowner while others require professional attention.

Fortune Plumbing, Inc. provides professional plumbing repair services for any part of the plumbing system in your home in Cumming, GA.

Bush attempts to reassure Americans in radio address

Saturday, October 11, 2008

George W. Bush, the President of the United States, has attempted to reassure Americans on the economy in his weekly radio address.

“Over the past few days, we have witnessed a startling drop in the stock market — much of it driven by uncertainty and fear,” he said, introducing the address. “Many Americans have serious concerns about their economic well-being.”

Bush then pointed out the action that the government is taking. “Here are the problems we face and the steps we are taking: First, key markets are not functioning because there is a lack of liquidity. So the Federal Reserve has injected hundreds of billions of dollars into the system. The Fed has joined with central banks around the world to coordinate a cut in interest rates — a step that should help free up credit. The Fed has also announced a new program to provide support for a vital tool that many American businesses use to finance their day-to-day operations — the commercial paper market, which is freezing up. As this program kicks in over the next week or so, it will help revive a key source of short-term financing for businesses and financial institutions.”

“Second, some Americans are concerned about whether their money is safe,” continued the president. “So the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the National Credit Union Administration have significantly expanded the amount of money insured in savings accounts and checking accounts and certificates of deposit. That means that if you have up to $250,000 in one of these insured accounts, every penny of that money is safe. The Treasury Department has also acted to restore confidence in a key element of America’s financial system by offering government insurance for money market mutual funds.”

Bush then said that there was an issue with fraud in the economy. He stated that, to address this issue, “the Securities and Exchange Commission is launching rigorous enforcement actions to detect fraud and manipulation in the market.”

Berlusconi warns U.S. on agent’s killing

    Thursday, April 28, 2005

In an escalating controversy that has contributed to Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s political problems and created a national uproar in Italy, Italian prosecutors began their own independent probe on Wednesday of the death of Nicola Calipari. The premier has put his government’s prestige on the line with assurances to the nation that full light would be shed on the shooting.

Calipari, one of the top intelligence agents in Italy, had negotiated a settlement with hostage takers in Baghdad and was rescuing journalist Giuliana Sgrena from them when American soldiers fired on the car they were in. Calipari became a national hero for Italians after he bravely threw his own body across hers as the firing continued, killing him and seriously injuring Sgrena with a few bullets in her back. She is still recovering.

Meanwhile, Americans released a document, now described as incomplete, which says the U.S. Army, in a joint inquiry with Italian officials, cleared its own soldiers of any responsibility in the tragic events of March 4.

The Prime Minister has put his reputation on the line says Francesco Cossiga, an ex president of Italy. He was quoted by the Italian news agency ANSA, saying he thinks Berlusconi would have no choice but to withdraw Italy’s 3000 troops from Iraq if the U.S. soldiers are cleared without further investigation, called by the U.S. a “friendly fire” incident. Cossiga is demanding the U.S. release them to Italian officials for trial or make the commitment to put them before an American court martial.

Berlusconi said that Italy would “never endorse” a report on the shooting by US soldiers of an Italian intelligence agent if it was unconvincing.

“If there are differences, they will emerge. But certainly, we will never endorse things that do not convince us,” Mr. Berlusconi told reporters.

An international group of journalists, “Reporters without borders” (Reporters sans frontières), said they were “very surprised” at Tuesday’s report released by the U.S. Army.

“We are not convinced that everything possible has been done to establish what happened in this tragedy or to determine the responsibility of all those involved, and we reiterate our appeal for an independent international enquiry by US and Italian authorities,” the press freedom organization said.

They had asked for a United Nations investigation immediately after the shooting. They also commented on the fact that the two Italian investigators disagreed with the findings of the U.S. Army and refused to sign the finished reports.

“We will see then what official reaction comes from the Italian government, which has a right to demand sanctions,” it said.

Ms. Sgrena again today described the Army’s announcement as a “slap in the face for the Italian government.” U.S. investigators were satisfied, according to the report, that “the procedures were followed to the letter” by the soldiers involved. Ms. Sgrena repeated her statement that the car in which she, Calipari and another agent, the driver, were travelling had “no warning signal…no warning shot” and “the searchlight was turned on after the shots were fired.”

The position of the U.S. high command, that soldiers had followed procedures, has remained unchanged since they first asserted this shortly after the incident occurred.

U.S. Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld said of the report and its investigators, “My latest information is that they [the Americans and Italians] have not come to a final agreement on a joint report…It’s an investigation, it was done together, intimately, and I think that we’ll just have to wait and see what they come out with.”

Iran’s morality police crack down on un-Islamic dress

    Wednesday, April 25, 2007

The Iranian police forces have faced criticism from Ayatollah Hashemi Shahrudi, the head of the judiciary who was appointed by Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, for their re-invigorated campaign to do away with un-Islamic dress.

Ayatollah Shahroudi proclaimed, “Tough measures on social problems will backfire and have counter-productive effects.” Others have, of course, made it clear that un-Islamic dress can lead to moral corruption, engender innumerable vices, and hurt the Islamic character of the nation.

Some believe that no one had any issue with the creation of an Islamic atmosphere. The core of the matter revolves around the implementation of the Islamic dress code; additionally, heavy-handed measures should be shunned. For instance, Mehdi Ahmadi, information head of Tehran’s police, told Al Jazeera: “Some citizens may complain about the way the law is being enforced but they all agree with the plan itself.”

According to one student, “You simply can’t tell people what to wear. They don’t understand that use of force only brings hatred towards them, not love.” Nevertheless, Hojatoll-Islam Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi, Iran’s interior minister who is in charge of policing, prognosticated positive feedback from the populace when he said, “People are unhappy with the social and moral status of the society. They expect that the fight against social insecurity be properly implemented.” Thus, Hujjat al-Islam Pour-Mohammadi re-iterated the necessity of proper implementation and methodology towards the restoration of morality in the Islamic Republic. Islamic officials and religious people affirm that this is indispensable to promote righteousness, curb sin, and bring open sinners to justice.

Following the Islamic Revolution in 1979, hijab became mandatory in Iran for every woman including foreigners after over 98% of citizens voted for an Islamic government. Women may face caning up to 74 strokes for failing to observe hijab. In this recent crackdown, the authorities have arrested many citizens throughout the country. Not only have women been taken into custody for their hair being uncovered on their foreheads and tight clothes that show body shapes, For men they need to cover from knee to their waist as according to Sharia. Even a foreign journalist was detained because the photograph on her press card was indecent.

It has not been clear whence the directive for the re-newed clampdown emanated. Some have blamed Mahmoud Ahmadinejad while Gholam Hossein Elham, the government spokesman, stated to reporters, “The police work as agents of the judiciary to confront crimes. The government as an executive body does not interfere in the affairs of the judiciary.” The following pre-election speech seems to corroborate this latter statement:

In reality, is the problem of our people the shape of the hair of our children? Let our children arrange their hair any way they wish. It doesn’t concern me and you. Let you and me overhaul the basic problems of the nation. The government should fix the economy of the nation and improve its atmosphere…[It should] better psychological security and support the people. People have variegated tastes. As if now the arch obstacle of our nation is the arrangement of our kids’ hair and the government disallowing them <He chuckles>. Is this the government’s responsibility? Is this the people’s merit? In actuality, this is the denigration of our people. Why do you underestimate and belittle the people? It is the real issue of our nation that one of our daughters donned a certain dress? Is this the issue of our nation and the problem of our nation?
